WILCOX, ELLA WHEELER (Nov. 5, 1850-Oct. 30, 1919); b. Johnstown Center, Wis., Poet. Drops of Water (1872); Shells (1873); Maurine (1876); Poems of Passion (1883); The Story of a Literary Career (1905); etc. Her best known poem is "Solitude," with the line "Laugh and the world laughs with you," which first appeared in Poems of Passion; Perditia; and Other Stories (1886).
